A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine says even mild cases of gestational diabetes should be treated, because the condition sends more blood sugar to fetuses than they need, so they store it as fat. This seems to give the babies an increased risk of being fat adults. Epigentics at work.
Controling mild gestational diabetes also seems to reduce the incidence of preeclampsia.
